One of the rules of this forum is that the creator of a thread can set the terms of discussion for that particular thread. Up until now, there has been no way for a thread creator to enforce that except to offer warnings and hope for a moderator or admin to come by. I have now modified member permissions so that you can modify or even delete posts on threads that YOU have started within the User Controlled section of the forum.
Yikes. That's a lot of power. It can be abused. My suggestion is that before you modify or delete a reply that you try to contact the person involved first. Because of the potential for abuse, even though it is a forum-wide world, we are limiting it only to that section of the forum.
At this point, rather than lay out a set of rules for how this should operate, except for saying that you should only take actions when your rules are being willfully violated, I'm going to just trust market forces.
If a person tends to abuse their authority over their thread, then people won't post in threads they start, as simple as that.
Let's try it and see how it works.
