Perhaps the Nobel Committee has confused when April Fool's Day is supposed to be.  Or perhaps the field of candidates is really that weak (sarcasm; according to reports, there were more candidates than ever).

Obama does not deserve the Peace Prize, period.  This is nothing against him; and he even seems to acknowledge that he is undeserving (and I don't know whether he appreciates the gesture, or is irritated at the heightened expectations it will bring).  This reflects poorly on committee that made the award, for watering it down, and overlooking someone who would be truly deserving.

Agreed, this was a weird decision.  Mind you, compared to some of the previous recipients (Kissenger, for example) Obama is quite deserving.  Looking back at the history of the award their judging criteria seems extremely shallow and fame-based.  i guess that's what has happened here.

I think a lot of people are realizing now that Obama was voted in for all the wrong reasons. He was popular (as in the "superstar" popular), carismatic, and "new" but when it comes to presiding over a country ...

He is falling below a lot of people's expectations. Giving him a nobel ... ???? ... Is this for something he intends to do in the future because with what he has done so far, I don't see that he deserves it.

I once held false impressions that the nobel peace prize was something meaningful purpose. They might as well hand one out to all the "pot and peace" rioters from the vietnam days. This is ridiculous!

Seems to be unanimous so far:  undeserved.
